Auto Text in MS Word |
To begin using the auto text function using Microsoft Word, choose Insert then auto text and click on auto text
An Auto Text window will open. In the"Enter Auto Text entries here:" box, type in the common sentence or phrase that you would like to add. In this example it is "cervical pain and stiffness on motion, with headache." click add and OK and return to your soap notes.
After you have added an auto text entry into your Word program, when you type the first few letters of the first word of your entry, a small box will apppear above your cursor with the first few words of the sentence. While the box is up, hit enter and Word will past the sentence into your text box.
This is a wonderful utility to speed up your note taking. If you have more than one entry with the same word. The program will default to the second word.
Unfortuntately, auto text will only allow a limited number of characters. If you need to add a lengthy paragraph, you would use a program such as Keyboard Express.
