The reason that Dr. Gotlib was awarded the Order of Canada is because he put aside professional or personal aspirations for the betterment of society. That is what the Order of Canada is about. If there is someone in the US in the profession that is deserving of this type of distinction I would hope that there is a formal way to recognize this.
