Facet Joint Injections

Studies in chronic low back pain show that facet joint injections do not produce pain relief or global improvement. Neither the type of agent injected nor the site of injection, make a significant difference to outcomes. There is no evidence on the efficacy of facet injections in acute low back problems. (C)
Facet injections are invasive but the potential serious complications are rare.
